I-infratech operates as an independent power producer. The company engages in the generation of renewable energy through hydro, solar and wind power. It sells its power to state electricity boards and large industrial companies in India. It was founded in 2011 and commenced operations in 2012 with their first project with a capacity of producing 2.0 MW from Kangan, J&K. I infratech plans to double its portfolio of running plants and projects under implementation to 20 MW in five years.

Facts
Realizing the importance of renewable energy and the need to tap the available renewable energy resources to supplement the energy demand of the state, the MNRE, GoI has accorded top priority to sponsoring a number of its programmes with liberal funding in respect of J&K. In the same context, the state Govt has decided that JAKEDA shall have the mandate to implement all small hydro power projects upto 2 MW station capacity so that the incentives provided by the MNRE, GoI are availed of to the maximum extent possible.
